Earth Celebrations is a non-profit organization, founded in 1991, applying the arts to engage our Lower East Side community to address, mobilize action and develop solutions to local environmental and climate challenges.

Description of Internship:
Earth Celebrations internship offers students an opportunity to apply their interests and skills working on our Ecological City: Art & Climate Solutions Action Project on the Lower East Side of New York City.
Ecological City: Art & Climate Solutions Action Project engages our Lower East Side community on climate solution initiatives to mitigate flooding, run-off, carbon pollution and the consequences of consequences of climate change throughout the network of community gardens, neighborhood, and East River Park waterfront. Through the collaborative art process and art & climate solutions workshops, the community is engaged to co-create a theatrical pageant (multi-site procession) featuring visual art, and performances of dance, music, theater and poetry to explore and celebrate local climate challenges and solutions embedded throughout the community gardens, neighborhood and waterfront.
This is a great opportunity for students of environmental/urban studies, collaborative community-based arts/theater and sustainable design. We also offer specific skill-based internship positions for video/photography, social media, graphic/web design, production logistics, educational arts workshops, environmental/urban planning research and community outreach. We have also provided class credit internships.
