ZDS Creative

ZDS Creative is a creative event space/multimedia arts collective dedicated to creating experiences that provide platforms for talented artists to grow, network, and share their work. Visit us for creative events and networking opportunities at our studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.  We also offer memberships to local artists and crafters to join our community, host classes in our studio, receive marketing and sales help, discounted rates on events, and more. Our goal is to bring cross-medium artists together to exchange ideas, inspire one another and create collective works of art. We hope that members and non-members come to ZDS to foster new ideas and create new business opportunities, and hopefully friendships.

Description of Internship:

Social Media Intern for Creative Collective

Reports to: Company Director and the Assistant Director

Classification: Exempt; Eligible for college credit.

Job Type: Internship, 10-15 hours/week for 6 months, days flexible and will work around class schedule.

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Greenpoint)

Please note that this is a hybrid position but leans heavily towards being an in-person position. We can be flexible with your academic schedule and availability but need assurance that you will be able to reliably travel to/from our studio space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

This is an unpaid six month internship position. Interns are eligible to receive school credit for this role.

We are ZDS Creative, a community event space/arts collective dedicated to creating experiences that provide platforms for talented artists to grow, network, and share their work. We host bi-monthly creative networking events, artist-lead workshops and more out of our studio space in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. We’re looking for someone who can dedicate their time and well rounded understanding of creative social media/marketing strategies to help us get the word out about our studio events and company mission.

Job Summary:

The Social Media Intern will be responsible for content creation across active social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook) in collaboration with ZDS Creative’s Director and Assistant Director, and will assist in bi-monthly studio event preparation.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Capturing video and photo content in-studio during working hours/and at open studio events for use across social media platforms;
  • Video and image editing for use across social media platforms;
  • Social media analytics management/review (bi-weekly analytic/workload reporting to Director and Assistant Director);
  • Social media calendar maintenance;
  • Open studio event preparation assistance;
  • Flier posting/event marketing strategy assistance;

Educational Value of this Role:

The Social Media Intern will report directly to the Director and the Assistant Director of the company. They will be expected to report to our studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on a flexible weekly basis to record, edit, schedule and post content across social media platforms. Additionally, the Social Media Intern will assist with event preparation (social media content creation/advertisement, flier posting, and applicable studio space set-up) for our bi-monthly open studio nights and events. A prepared bi-monthly social media analytic report and general workload check-in will be initiated by upper management.

In this role, interns will gain a well-rounded understanding of creative event planning and public relations, the intricacies of successfully marketing a new company to its target audiences and the impact of a well-strategized social media presence. The intern will learn to blend a pre-established brand identity with their own knowledge of social media trends and growth strategies. The intern will have access to applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, Rush, and the brand’s pre-existing brand book, and will be expected to strategize the use of these tools to well represent the company’s mission across social media platforms.

Additionally, admission to our open night studio events will provide the intern with access to a wide network of creative professionals across creative and multimedia disciplines in the city. The intern will be encouraged to form a lasting professional connection with the company’s founder and participating members, and will gain knowledge on the internal workings of a multimedia arts/event studio.

ZDS Creative can offer the Social Media Intern academic credit upon completion of the internship in alignment with requirements from the applicant’s educational institution. The applicant must make the company’s upper management aware of their institution’s regulation for internships at the start of the internship. Required academic standards will be reviewed during bi-weekly meetings.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of social media trends;
  • Capability with phone, and cameras (mostly digital, but some film: this can also be taught, but some previous experience is beneficial);
  • Knowledge of the TikTok and Instagram algorithm;
  • Experience with growing a social media account;
  • Interest in events and working with a community;
  • Ability to work with an established brand identity;
