Peter A. Krueger Summer Internship Program at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum

The Peter A. Krueger Summer Internship Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain professional skills and learn about museum practices at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. Interns will develop an understanding of how Cooper Hewitt fulfills its mission to educate, inspire, and empower people through design. Internships are offered in various museum areas: accessibility and inclusion, conservation, digital media, graphic design, and socially responsible design research.

INTERNSHIP INFORMATION
Dates of Internship: June 10–August 16, 2024 (10 weeks, 35 hours/week)
Industry: Arts/Arts Management, Graphic Design
Preferred Academic Level: Undergraduate

Description of Internships:

Explore the 2024 Peter A. Krueger Internship offerings below. Internships will be hybrid, and interns will be required to work onsite at Cooper Hewitt located in New York City a minimum of three (3) days a week. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of application. Required application materials: resume, responses to three prompts, two references, and transcript.

-Accessibility and Inclusion Intern, Learning and Audience Engagement Department
-Graphic Design Intern, Communications and Marketing Department
-Conservation Intern, Curatorial Department
-Socially Responsible Design Intern, Curatorial Department
-Digital Media Intern, Cross-Platform Content Department

Stipend: $5,000

Submit your application materials through the SOLAA portal. Once you create an account, select “Start Your Application” at the top of the page and search for “Peter A. Krueger Summer Internship” in the program name field.

Application deadline: February 12, 2024 (Applicants will be notified by mid-April)

Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of application.

Location: Hybrid (minimum three days per week onsite at Cooper Hewitt in New York City)
