With the generous support of NYU alumnus Richie Jackson (TSOA ’87), this leadership program gives undergraduate students in their second year and above the opportunity to learn critical skills such as LGBTQ+ advocacy, organizational leadership, programmatic development, and strategies for inclusive service through weekly cohort meetings and a year-long paid internship with a local LGBTQ+ community organization in New York City.
This program inspires the next generation of LGBTQ+ leaders by fostering a sense of community and service within and outside of NYU through critical skills, such as LGBTQ+ advocacy, organizational leadership, programmatic development, and strategies for inclusive service.
The LGBTQ+ Center at NYU is a hub where students, faculty, staff, and alumni can connect and support one another in myriad ways. Description of Internship: This is an exciting, paid yearlong internship and cohort opportunity here at the NYU LGBTQ+ Center called the Richie Jackson LGBTQ+ Service Fellows program! This program gives undergraduate students in their second year and beyond the opportunity to learn critical skills such as LGBTQ+ advocacy, organizational leadership, programmatic development, and strategies for inclusive service.
Fellows would get paid to intern at a local LGBTQ+ community organization in New York City. We are doubling our cohort size from five to ten fellows for the 2023-2024 academic year. Each internship opportunity is complemented with a weekly cohort meeting where students reflect on and explore learnings about their internship experiences.
