Description of Internship: Artist’s assistant internship
The intern will assist an international artist, located in Chelsea with multiple projects in progress, and gain experience by helping to prepare for a major archival exhibition with NYU’s Fales Library Tracey-Barry gallery and a picture book project spearheaded by the Amsterdam Museum with essays by prominent curators and scholars and other tasks as they arise.
The intern will:
-Gain experience with framing and installation planning for a major exhibition.
-Assist with pulling approximately 300 archival objects from the library holdings. Assist in organizing panels in tandem with the exhibition.
-Fundraising for the projects (grant-writing and crowdfunding)
-Assist administratively with correspondence with nonprofit organizations, curators, galleries and collectors, participate in meetings by phone, email, chat, or video; image requests, archiving digital files, and announcements, shipping and receiving, studio visits, invoicing and inventory, and book and literary submissions.
This is initially an unpaid position with lunches and travel paid by the artist that may lead to a future paid position.
