We are seeking artists proposals for a mural to be installed in The Backyard, which is a private lawn within the courtyard of Washington Square Village. The theme this year is “Local Flora and Fauna”.
The deadline for submission of proposal: June 10, 2022.
Our 2019 Backyard program featured Nolan Grünwald’s “Proud New Yorker” in celebration of Stonewall50 and installed near “Banners of Pride” made by residents and Children’s Museum of Art.

While limited supplies last, current NYU students and faculty housing residents may pick up a free bike helmet subject to size availability. No pre-registration required. Age requirement: 18+. Also, our Campus Safety friends will be onsite to share info about their programs.
In collaboration with NYUGreen: Making a Greener NYU
Everyone is invited to participate in the Bike Month Bingo photo contest! Pick up a bingo card, explore the city this month and snap some pictures for the chance to win a prize. Prizes are available for row completion: horizontal, vertical or diagonal. First, second and third place win a $25 Citi Bike gift card.

Arbor Day

In celebration of Arbor Day on the last Friday in April, we are excited to roll out our Guide to Trees in Sasaki Garden! You can download the guide here and enjoy learning about trees year round.
What is Arbor Day?
The name Arbor Day is rooted in Latin as arbor means tree. The holiday dates back to 1870s Nebraska and the day of tree appreciation continues to be celebrated in communities worldwide.

National Take a Walk in the Park Day takes place every March 30. Dog owners: pick up swag from designated dispensers in Washington Square Village near dog relief areas while limited supplies last.
