Having been working busily for 4 weeks, our video project---The Lunch Date, finally comes into being! Yeah!!!! Our story is a interactive multi-choices story. It's about a girl's unexpecting lunch date. The audiences can control the character and help her make choices. It took us the whole Saterday to shoot all the raw material in the dorm(Some parts was taken out side the dorm). We used the camara and the little 'spider' to balence the camara. Due to most of the scenes we shot is from the first-person perspective. So me and Maya hold the camara to imitate the character's movement. Kalkidan, our only actress, has the most important role in casting hand movement as well as third-person perspective scenes. As you can see below, that's how we cast the first-person scenes:And the result is as below:
Quite interesting, isn't it? Maya did the most of the video aditing in the next week, while I was focusing on the audio casting. Maya used the 'splice' technique in the eating part which I think is the best part in our video. She cut the table in two different time line together with the same person(Kalkidan), eating in both sides. I think that is amazing! I'm deeply impressed by Maya's talent.
What I did is to get all of the background music as well as all the environmental sounds. Our video doesn't have a sound track at all at the first place due to the camara recording was so poor in sound. So I get all the sound in the boardcasting room or from the Internet.
Then I used iMovie and Premier to fix them in. It's a very time consuming work because I need to get every knocking sound or footsteps synchronized with the movements we recorded.
Done and done! The final step is to cut different pieces of video and get them in to the website made by Kalkidan. The website is an self-created array and can generate different video clips based on the audiences' choices. That's all, please look forwards to our presentation tonight!
