2023
- 2023-12-11: Good tidings from Hawaii — the collaborative work from our postdoc Bogdan and lab alumnus Professor Mike Perry at UCSD to decipher the genome of Doli flies is now published in Frontiers in Genetics. This project has a deep root in the lab and was initiated by Mike and Keith, and then Dr. Fleur Lebhardt, a former postdoc in the lab, followed up on the project.
- 2023-12-07: Our protocol for generating gene-specific Gal4 driver lines is online in STAR Protocols. The work is spearheaded by our talented undergrad researchers April and Gustave with our postdoc David.
- 2023-11-30: Our amazing PhD candidate Félix Simon successfully defended his thesis work, Establishment and maintenance of neuronal identity in the Drosophila optic lobe today! Congratulations, Dr. Simon!
- 2023-11-20: We are thrilled to share with you that Elizabeth and Gustave won the best poster presentation award at 2023 ABRCMS meeting mentored by our postdoc David.
- 2023-08-29: Have you ever wondered how neurons are made in precise numbers in the nervous system? Check out Jennifer’s work on bioRxiv about how compartmenting neural progenitors make sure the right number of each neuron “parts” are there to assemble a functional brain.
- 2023-05-19: Hooray! Our amazing undergraduate researcher Nathalie Shoji got the Albert Borgman Prize for her thesis work on the use of split-Gal4 system to find new neuronal types with our postdoc David.
- 2023-05-16: With the Empire State Building violet tonight, Hunter, Karlee, Mennah, and Natalie are graduating today and start a new chapter in their life. They have brought exciting ideas contributed their outstanding work to the lab, and we wish them all the best for their future endeavors. Congratulations to all the graduates!
