The Colombian Studies initiative promotes the production and exchange of knowledge about Colombia, primarily between the United States and Colombia through academic training activities, research, cultural events, and the promotion of public debate. It seeks to encourage and sustain broad and interdisciplinary understandings of the main socio-economic, political and environmental problems that exist in the country. It aims to generate collective initiatives between the academy, decision-makers, and civil society to accompany the social change and peace building process while strengthening Colombian democracy.
The Initiative aims to create an Inter-American hub for research, multidisciplinary conversations and exchange of knowledge concerning Colombia, thus deepening understanding, fostering discussion, and generating new approaches about current challenges and opportunities affecting the peace process, Colombia’s democratic governance and its sustainable development. It supports research, dialogue, and inquiry, academic events and activities for US, Colombian, and international scholars, students, NGOs practitioners, and the general public concerned with the past, present and futures of Colombia. The initiative that aims to be a platform for other institutions and scholars interested in pursuing research about Colombia. It welcomes scholars and institutions beyond URosario and NYU different, practitioners, and scholars institutions from around the world.
