In this panel discussion, three publishers spoke to us about the challenges and opportunities facing independent and university publishers in Colombia, as well as in the Spanish-language book market in the United States. The panelists offered insight into the challenges in a digital world, on-demand publishing and how to adapt to a market dominated by large publishing houses. In addition, they explored the prospects and opportunities for emerging authors who wish to publish their works in Colombia or in Spanish in the United States. The relationship between authors and translators with publishing houses was also discussed, as well as the history and current situation of Spanish-language bookstores in New York City.
This conversation is part of Community Conversations, one of the quarterly events organized by the Colombian Studies Initiative, in collaboration with the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (NYU) and the Universidad del Rosario in Colombia.
