On Monday 4/3 at 6:30pm the CLACS Colloquium presents A Son de Qué centered on the Colombian Black Pacific. The event features a presentation by Michael Birenbaum Quintero (Boston University) and immersive performance by vocalist and percussionist Manuel Francisco Viveros (NYU Spanish & Portuguese), Mauricio Nieto Lugo on the marimba, and Andrés Sánchez. On Friday 4/7 at 3:00pm attend a special edition of Fridays on the Patio at KJCC with Una Tarde de Chuana: La Música de Gaita de Colombia. This afternoon of gaita and millo from the Caribbean region of Colombia features NYC-based migrant artists who interpret the musical traditions that have been passed down for generations in the Montes de Maria región.
