Creating and hosting interactive maps

NYUAD Librarian for Geospatial Data Services is holding a hands-on workshop about creating and hosting interactive web maps with the QGIS plugin qgis2web and GitHub. The workshop will take place on 13 November from 12:00-2:00 p.m. in NYUAD Library room 306.

An example of a map that was created with qgis2web and hosted on GitHub is the NYUAD Winter Institute in Digital Humanities’ Visitor Map (embedded at the end of this post).

In this workshop, participants will learn how to create an interactive map with information and images from previous World’s Fairs and Expositions. If you are not able to attend but are interested, a README with full details is available.

Any interested participants should create their own free GitHub account before attending. Participants are encouraged to bring their own computers with GitHub Desktop and QGIS3 installed. The workshop instructor will use a Mac, so some instructions may vary for participants.

This workshop is part of GIS Day celebrations at NYUAD Library. GIS Day is an annual and international celebration to share and celebrate the uses of geographic information systems.
