Beth Russell became the Head of the Center for Digital Scholarship in October 2013 after working as the Digital Technologies & E-Learning Librarian at NYU Abu Dhabi since 2010.
Her recent work as the Head of the CDS includes shaping a vision for a new space, and a service model that meets the technological needs of faculty and advanced researchers. Her favorite part of the job is forming relationships with her colleagues through outreach initiatives and helping others use library services and technology to advance their own scholarship. Beth holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Columbia College Chicago, a Master of Library Science degree from Dominican University and a Master of Educational Technology degree from Boise State University.
Academic Technologist for Audio & Visual Media
Rebecca joined New York University Abu Dhabi in December 2013 as an Academic Technologist for Audio and Visual Media. Prior to this she worked at Coventry University in the UK as a Technical Instructor in Media.
Having a Bachelor of Arts (hons) in Photomedia & Design Communication and a Masters degree in Contemporary Arts Practice, Rebecca understands the key elements in producing a high standard of work using a variety of different mediums. Her strengths and key skills are within video and photography. She enjoys helping faculty, researchers, and students with incorporating media into their teaching and research.
Project Manager for the Akkasah: Center for Photography
Ozge Calafato is the Project Manager for the Akkasah: Center for Photography at the New York University Abu Dhabi, a project located in the Center for Digital Scholarship. Özge Calafato studied Political Science in Istanbul and Journalism in London. Since 1999, she has worked as a journalist, editor and translator for several magazines focusing on photography, literature, contemporary art, film, jazz and travel. She has worked as an interpreter and reporter for several news publications and agencies, including the BBC World Service and The Wall Street Journal. In addition, she has authored five books and translated several others.
Calafato has worked for the Abu Dhabi Film Festival (ADFF) as Programming Manager and served as a selection committee member for SANAD, ADFF’s Development and Post-Production Fund. She has also worked as a programmer and consultant for a number film festivals and institutions including Documentarist, Doha Film Institute, DokuFest, Oslo Arabian Film Days, The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC), Punto de Vista, Imagine Science, and Birds Eye View Film Festival. She is a co-founder and project director of the UAE National Film Library and Archive and a member of the publications committee for the online literary magazine altZine.net and e-book publisher altKitap.net.
