  • May 25, 2024: Our article entitled “OMEF biochip for evaluating red blood cell deformability using dielectrophoresis as a diagnostic tool for type 2 diabetes mellitus” is published in the flagship journal “Lab on a Chip”. It is also selected for the themed collection “Lab on a Chip Emerging Investigators”. Furthermore, the developed biochip is featured as a Back Cover on the Journal’s Issue.

  • March 1, 2024: Our article entitled “Ventilation-Based Strategy to Manage Intraoperative Aerosol Viral Transmission in the Era of SARS-CoV-2” is published in the journal “Life”, and was highlighted in several scientific news and outlets including MedicalXpress, ScienMag, EurekAlert, among others.
  • January 20, 2024: Dr. Wael Othman joined our group as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on, and contribute to, several miniaturized medical devices for different applications.
  • December 15, 2023: Congratulations to our recently graduated PhD student Dr. Wael Othman for being named as one of the winners of 2023 Innovators under 35 MENA by MIT Technology Review Arabia. This is very exciting, specially that our former PhD students Dr. Ayoola Brimmo and Dr. Ayoub Glia also got the same recognition for the years 2020 and 2022, respectively. Congratulations to our bright PhD students for the very well-deserved achievement.
  • December 1, 2023: Our invited review article entitled “Next-Generation Microfluidics for Biomedical Research and Healthcare Applications” is published in the journal “Biomedical Engineering and Computational Biology”.
  • November 15, 2023: The patent for our technology “3D Multipurpose Scanning Microscopy Probes” is now granted.
  • November 1, 2023: Prof. Qasaimeh served as the general chair of the extremely successful MARSS2023 Conference at NYUAD. MARSS is an annual flagship International Conference on Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales. MARSS2023 featured 180 talks given by top-notch speakers from around the world, including 14 Plenary Talks given by world-renewed speakers. MARSS20203 welcomed 247 participants from around the world and distributed as: 29% from Europe, 27% from the UAE, 20% from Asia, 9% from America, and 15% from the rest of the world.

Vandyck and Mr. Ma-sum Abdul-Hamid are joining as NYUAD’s Post-graduation Practical Trainees, Ms. Shouq Al Zaabi and Ms. Leen Ali are joining from Khalifa University as interns, and Sherifa Yakubu and Fernando Castaño are joining as summer students. Looking forward for a vibrant summer times in the lab.

  • May 23, 2022: Prof. Qasaimeh was honored to receive the inaugural Faculty “Distinguished Service Award”, presented by NYUAD’s Vice Chancellor and Provost.
  • May 21, 2022: Yesterday, our group hosted the visit of nine high-school students from the biomedical society in Cranleigh Abu Dhabi. Our group members gave lab tours, demonstrated experiments of paper-based microfluidics, 3D printing, and cell manipulation, and gave short lectures in the field of microfluidics for biomedical applications.
  • April 1, 2022: Prof. Qasaimeh is now an Associate Editor with the journal Frontiers in Robotics and AI, specialty section of Nano- and Microrobotics.
  • March 29, 2022: Prof. Qasaimeh joined the Steering Committee of the Annual International Conference on Manipulation, Automation and Robotics at Small Scales (MARSS).
  • March 23, 2022: Prof. Qasaimeh is taking his undergraduate students (Instrumentations, Sensors, and Actuators) in a fieldtrip to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, to experience surgical instruments, operation room instrumentations, and surgical robots.
