Sensor Walk
- A flower light that opens when people approaches
- There are many installations with sensors in Shanghai. I didn’t take a picture of it, but the idea is that when you stand under the light / big flower, it will blossom.
- According to a friend of mine, if the flower doesn’t come in the form of a lamppost, it could be scary at night, because something huge just started to move without you even realizing it. 🙂
- Doors
- I think most of the doors (that require you to push/ pull) here have a sensor attached to them? At least whenever I approach the door, I can hear some metal clicking/ un-clicking
- other reasons that convince me there are sensors:
- these doors can only be opened in one direction — if you enter the building by pushing the door, you will have to pull it when exiting, and vice versa. However in China, most of the time the direction doesn’t matter.
- I’ve seen a poster saying that in order to save energy, please use the revolving door.
Some of the cool projects I’ve learned in my previous classes:
Spider Dress: link — this one definitely employed proximity sensor
