We welcome highly motivated and enthusiastic researchers with
- Keen interest in fundamental research at the intersection between chemistry, physics, material science, and computer science
- Strong theoretical, mathematical, and coding skills
- Serious and responsible about their work
- Excellent teamwork and communication
- Postdocs – If you are interested in joining the group, please prepare a cover letter with a brief description of research accomplishments and interests, curriculum vitae with a list of publications, and contact information for three references. Postdoc opening post and application instructions can be found here.
- PhD Graduate Students NYU Shanghai-track – The Sun group is currently accepting new graduate students. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Professor Sun. We will only consider motivated students who put our group as the first choice. Prospective graduate student applicants, please apply for the NYU Shanghai-track Chemistry PhD Program.
- Master Graduate Students ECNU-track – We are also taking master students from the N.E.T. program (NYU Shanghai – ECNU Joint Graduate Training Program), where students officially are ECNU students of the State Key Laboratory of Precision Spectroscopy (optics major) and conduct research within our group. For more details, check out https://netprogram.shanghai.nyu.edu/.
- Undergraduate Students – Our group always welcomes undergraduate students who are interested in doing research in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry. If you are willing to devote multiple years to training in the theoretical chemistry area, contact Professor Sun at xiang.sun@nyu.edu to explore research opportunities. Other short-term research opportunities are also available, such as Deans’ Undergraduate Research Fund (DURF), Summer Research Program, Capstone Projects, Independent Study, Undergraduate Thesis, etc.
- Internship – Non-NYU undergraduate students who are interested in our PhD program could check out the Summer Research Program in Molecular Science (SRPMS) at https://www.srpms-nyush.org/ for research internship opportunities in our group.
- Research Associates – We have RA openings from time to time. Only a bachelor’s degree is required for RA. If you are interested, please email Prof. Sun. Thanks!
To students: Only the science majors that are built on a solid background in math and physics are worth pursuing.
给学生的一句话:任何不以数理基础垫底的理工科专业都不值得读。
