Abstract: NYU developed an economic development strategy for the City of Mount Vernon to identify opportunities to strengthen Mount Vernon’s economy and create a regional identity for the city.
NYU analyzed local and regional economic conditions and industry trends and conducted a field analysis of land use and physical conditions in selected industrial and commercial corridors. By intentionally shaping the future of Mount Vernon’s industry mix and land use, the City can improve economic conditions and build more resiliency against economic fluctuations.
The report provides recommendations to strengthen the City’s economic planning and industrial districts, reimagining these corridors as responsive and flexible spaces for regional innovation.
