Hey Heptapods, does your planet have food delivery service?
Since human beings consume energy when doing actions, such as walking, jumping, running, or even writing, they need ‘food’ to help them keep vigorous and cope with daily life activities. Food can be wild animals obtained by hunting, crops in the field, or cooked food made by human beings themselves through roasting, boiling, or heating. Because food contains plenty of nutrition which is a must for humans, accordingly food plays an essential role in humans’ daily life.
With the fast development of society, human beings have also managed to change their way of communication by exchanging information as well. In the beginning, human beings usually talked to each other with their own language, just like what you did in your daily life. Gradually, people have learned to use other things to help them to convey the message or information. Originally, they preferred to use some specific kinds of animals such as pigeons, since pigeons would carry the small note and fly to the destination even if the distance is long. After that, people have learned to use telegrams to convey messages. Telegraph messages are sent in the form of electrical signals over a dedicated switching line, using a code in place of words and numbers, usually Morse code. In recent decades, the ‘Internet’ has been created, there are tens of thousands of technical data databases on the Internet, and its information media include data, images, text, sound and other forms. Information attributes include data, exchange software, books, archives and other categories; Information content involves communication, computer, agriculture, biology, astronomy, medicine, politics, law, military, music and other aspects. With the appearance of the Internet, it is much faster for humans to convey what they want to tell others by only clicking on their computers which is the medium for information exchange.
Because humans have more and more things to do in the future, such as studying, working, doing leisure activities, and so on, they want to create a convenient way to eat meals instead of cooking by themselves, which may waste a lot of time. Even though humans can go to places called ‘restaurants’ to buy food, it is still not that effective for busy people. Therefore, by combining the concept of food and the Internet, humans invented ‘food delivery’. At first, people can choose what they want to eat or order by the Internet. The restaurant can receive the order immediately and start cooking. After a while, a person, whose job is ‘delivery man’, will go to the restaurant, take the meal, and send it to the person who ordered. In this case, people can order food in advance and get it on time. I know that food delivery sounds weird for you, because heptapods can see the food delivered by the time you order. However, to see and to actually eat is different. Heptapods can still look forward to the ordered food, even though you know what the food will look like. So, do you want to try to book something to eat now? I prefer barbecue and bubble milk tea!
