In celebration of Constitution Day 2022, the John Brademas Center of New York University and the NYU Steinhardt Verbatim Performance Lab used interview excerpts culled from data collected for VPL’s Portraits US: Polarization project and put them in conversation with a focus on the 14th Amendment:
“No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States.”
The event was moderated by Jack H. Knott, Dean of the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University, and Gale and Ira Drukier Dean’s Chair joined by Dr. Karen Jackson-Weaver, Senior Associate Vice President of Global Faculty Engagement and Innovation Advancement at New York University as a respondent sharing their thoughts, responses, and insights as the performance unfolds. Joe Salvatore, Clinical Professor of Educational Theatre at New York University, also introduced the performance pieces.
