Artists

The Verbatim Performance Lab offers Artists multifaceted opportunities to learn more about our methodology through workshops and intensives, creation of work through internship opportunities, or in support of their own work through the lab’s Open Studio Series.

Workshops:

Learn about VPL’s methodology of verbatim performance through workshops and intensives that teach interview protocol, transcribing & scoring, coding for speech & gesture, performing a portrait, or creating an ethnodrama. Workshops & Intensives are offered throughout the course of the year and are by registration only.

Open Studios:

Our Open Studio Series provides a space for Artists to workshop new verbatim work, flesh out ideas, and to be in conversation with professionals in the field. Each studio is ‘Artist-centric’ and ‘Artist-focused’, curated to the needs and goals of each individual coming into the space. Open studios are open to anyone exploring Verbatim or Documentary Theatre and are at no cost to the artist.

Internships:

Internships are available on a per project basis throughout the academic year. Interns work closely with the artistic team and are an integral part of the creation and roll out process.
