“Squares arranged according to the laws of chance” is created by Hans Arp. A way to recreate a version of Arp’s work is by first tearing paper into rough shapes. After tearing the paper up, drop them on a canvas. Wherever the paper drops onto, glue them on the canvas.

The exquisite corpse technique would eliminate bias as to create the artwork, at least 2 different people would need to contribute to the drawing which would definitely eliminate self bias with the different views. By folding the drawing before passing the paper, it would remove people’s consciousness of other’s looking at their drawing. Another way of eliminating bias explained by the text is by random number table. “convenient because they allow random selection of anything which can be numbered, reliable because they can be verified to be statistically random.”(19) In the modern age, we can use computers to eliminate bias by making every selection into numbers and allow to computer to choose a random number. Games in a computer such as solitaire would be able to use random number table to shuffle the cards.

I don’t agree completely that art should reflect the wider cultural environment of the time as artist are free to create anything they want to make. Art is where people can express their thoughts and are free from the society. However, as new technology emerges, artists would be able to create new art forms. for example, photoshop allows artists to be creative with it by adding effects to images.
Step 1:Take out materials and spread them out on a flat surface
Step 2:Take out a blindfold and blindfold yourself
Step 3:Take the first material you touch
Step 4:Paint or draw while blindfolded
These steps would mitigate bias as the choices are there independent of each other and the artist would have to use the material that he/she randomly choose. The blindfold eliminate bias as when the artist draws or paints, they wouldn’t know where or what they are drawing exactly. This way, the art created would be free from bias.
