Project B.

Process: Design and Composition

For this project, the topic is about focusing on depression. So, instead of making the website an informative one that can be found easily on the internet. I made mine with games in it. At first, the idea for the thermometer was to increase and decrease and the user can press a spacebar to stop the temperature from moving. However, it didn’t work so the game changed to just pressing the up arrow in order for the temperature to move.

Process: Technical

The index page uses div elements in order for it to be compatible with different sizes of websites. For the first game, I used class to make the water from the show and the thermometer appear. The thermometer also used the function keypressed to increase the temperature. The second game also uses class to make the locks randomly appear. In order for the locks to appear when in close distance with the flashlight I used dist() and if function. I would have made the game full screen and put arrows that can be pressed to go to the next game.

3) Reflection and Future Development

In the project proposal, the index page just showed stages of the game and the user can press it to go to the stages. In the final project, the index page had 3 tabs that show who to contact, what is depression, and the game. A suggestion that was brought up during class was that the game should be on full screen and the ending should have directed people to the contact page so that it wouldn’t be offensive to people with depression as it carries a bad message if the final stage can’t be unlocked. I would also improve the website by having more information on the what is depression page so people can also look into what depression is deeper. Another thing that I would add is a pop-up tab that shows up before the game start to inform the player what the game is about.
