“POWERFUL LEARNERS AND CRITICAL AGENTS” Sreyashi Jhumki Basu.

Approach of this research paper is quite different, as a teacher I learned “Never think students are just waiting for knowledge to be filled with”. She suggests us in opposite way; students should be viewed as individuals who can contribute to the classroom, sharing and gaining knowledge from each other. Teachers need to use various methods/approaches in order to reach every student. Student needs stage wise motivation because we know that not all students learn in different way. First always give them an opportunity to express themselves and find out the interest of the student, suggest them to set up their own goals on their own conceptions and visions. The TPACK framework.

Before my student life in NYU, I never used technology in my entire life. In my last semester, we learned different features of technology in teaching and learning process especially in my content area. I believe that the technology is affecting the lives of peoples in both positive and negative manners. Because of technology, the world has become smaller and it is the largest factor of globalization. Technology is fast becoming the driving force of adolescent and high impact on their over all development. Nowadays people of all ages have become quite comfortable with technology.
Here my concern is Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK), Continue reading The TPACK framework.

“The tattoo artist as a cultural gatekeeper” Xuan Santos.

The research based on, how the businesses of tattoo parlors represent the cultural values and tradition of Chicana. Basically Chicana community migrated from Mexico; hold their Chicano values in their tattoo art spread all over the East Los Angeles. Tattoo artist pick and suggest tattoo for the community according to their class, gender, race and sexuality. They thought women should get tattooed in private areas to avoid stigmatization whereas men get tattoos visible in the public eye. And they do not respect the woman with visible tattoo; they even say whore or lesbian. It gives the idea how men are dominating in their community. Some of them think that getting tattooed means lower class but some of them feel proud or badge of honor of that community. I feel that how people are connected to their roots, culture and tradition through these tattoos though the some of their thoughts need to be changed for the new generations.

Treating in collaborative not authoritative approach.

“Parents have the primary responsibility for engaging young adults in conversations about what they see and hear.”(P-47) Who Am I? The Social,Emotional, and Identity Trails of Young Adolescence.

As a parent of adolescent, I realized that the role of parents should change from more authoritative to more collaborative approach. I still remember from our reading of my other subject written kalyanpur and Harry, We have Asian people do not encourage their kids to talk, so the receptive learning is good but that doesn’t support their expressive learning. I think we should allow them to see their own dreams, allow them to develop the habit of greater self responsibility and confident and be independent in decision making. Bridge the gap between neuroscience and practical advice for parents, teachers and society. MVP # 4

“Neuroscientist and educators are talking about this issue more intensely. How do you optimize brain’s ability to learn at children reach puberty?” (p-73)

It is not so easy to select a paragraph from dense, informative and text based on scientific reasoning. As a parent and teacher of adolescent, I will try to do my best to maintain their neural net working effectively, which influence their learning with excitement and enthusiasm. According to this research paper, if adolescents are you left without parental and teachers’ support and advice, they will rely on advice of their peers then there exists a risk of isolation from family and social, loving and caring environment.
