This week, Ophelia, Yuan, and I discussed some topics we’re interested in exploring.
Vlog to Blog
The concept is to transform a day of our lives into a text-based blog, like a diary. For this concept, the model I found was DenseCap, which can turn images into sentences. But it’s also quite absurd, for all the machine can do, is the description of the image. The context behind the day is lost and we would have to think of some way to bridge the imagination.
A Memoir
I came across this model “ATTnGAN”, which generates images from text. The low resolution and absurd style in-between animation and realistic photos inspired me to make a short story of someone depicting and remembering their hometown.
Now that I am not living in my hometown, how would I remember it, or how people would imagine it when I describe the place to them? So I tried to create images with some texts describing my hometown, without specifically naming the city, and later on typing captions back to the photo to tell the story. I like the quality that it now looks like a very open and imaginary place.
Green Screen
The idea I had based on this is to create two stories in a video. The front character would be doing something, while other things are happening in the back parallel. Inspired by Hitchcock’s film “Rear Window”, I thought there could also be 2 perspectives in the video, one of the characters, and the other is from the god view that sees everything.
