Class 11 – Guest Speaker

It was a great opportunity to have Kathleen as our guest speaker, and I definitely learned a lot from her presentation, both on the projects and also some behind-the-scene knowledges about this industry. I was really impressed on the progress that Superblue as a company has made so far, considering it is a rather new company that only has 3 years of experience. I think their business model is quite interesting, that not only they have their own site location, and they also take commissions from other places. 

Kathleen’s presentation also gives me a glimpse of what it is like to work as an artist and a curator in this industry. From her presentation, I think I gained some interests on working as a curator, for although it means to coordinate with the artist, with the sponsors, and everything else…

However, I was concerned about the integrity themes of the shows for their main site in Miami, because it was composed of different shows made by different artists, and the size of each show room look quite small to me. I think that if the theme of the different shows could be somehow connected or related would give the visitors a better experience.
