Relationships Across Time and Distance
Responsibility and Friendship
Monika: I think we need a more specific topic. What do you think? Or maybe it gets articulated through the piece itself…?
PS: I agree that we need a more specific topic. Something tangible enough for us to start to link topic first to attribute like what you are having in this page
We wish to create a interactive behaviour in a intimate and conducive to sharing and listening way to show we care in our daily life in the distributed city.
Powen: The idea could be – being there and responsive to our friends and family whenever they need, this could mean to exchange with voice and tangible emotive message anytime anywhere we want. This could mean a series of tangible and authentic data transmission between human, hence I envisioned a wearable(small object, less gadget like) that can send voice messages to friend which they will feel and listen to, respond on the go(out of mobile platform). Furthermore, when I interpreted your note on using object to prompt and as representative eg ”listening chair” “recording archive” “small room”…etc. A concept came to me as it could be a interactive space or object(in museum?) we archive the messages to and create emotional meaning on top of it functional meaning or more.
Monika: I am starting to see/imagine A scene/room with Individual spaces and small group spaces
There might be a series of “listening” and “recording” booths, individual chairs and “conversation chairs” scattered about. I think it’s important to create a comfortable and yet, imaginative, delightful space that offers visual interest. I like the idea of “telephones” to listen and record on, pods or organic forms or simple chairs configured/designed in ways which encourage conversation, using light to create a dramatic environment and have all the elements woven together in such as way that no one elements stands out from any other.
