Creating my own first circuit and PCB board

Surprisingly, creating my own first circuit board was not too complicated. While Eagle was frustrating at first to get the hang of, when I finally got it I found that it was a lot of fun! I got to be my own designer!

Here is the result:

I had to remake my programming jig because it was wrong so in the interim I used Chester’s jig and plugged the circuit into the power supply and it worked! The only thing is, I assumed the LEDs in the shop would all work, when in fact about 4/19 were busted.

When I redid the jig, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my soldering skills had improved drastically. Before it was messy, and now it is so much cleaner! However, I had problems burning the bootloader. I am not sure why that is the case. Kar told me it could be that sometimes I need to plug the arduino into a USB hub and then into my computer, or it could be that like the LEDs, some of the ATTinys in the shop could be busted too. I haven’t checked this out yet, but I definitely will soon, because I want to be able to use the jig for other projects in this class.
