For my final project, my business card, I wanted to created a logo that expressed me, along with the card. I wrote my initials in the center of my sketch and drew a line with many different characteristics that would describe myself. I then tried to create a logo and business card that reflected that.
I love the logo that I came up with. It has an edge to it as the shape of the “R” is unique. In addition, the original design was an ombre of colors (see the next image after the sketch), but I believe that look went out of style, and it also looks a bit like the old word art of Microsoft Word. Thus I decided to change it to white and make it look more timeless.
For my business card I included the triangles sketch that I had created in our “color palette of you” week. I changed the opacity of the triangles so that they would give the card a “calm” look as that was something I was going for. Also, this made the words more visible.
In the last and final version of my card, I changed the card orientation to vertical to give it more of an edge. I also changed the logo to white, and placed it on the shapes side instead of the words. I really like the image on the left side. However, I am not sure if it fully expresses me. I am calm, I like pastel colors, abstract art, and I am pretty feminine. However, I wanted something more edgy and unique. I think I am definitely on the right track though, and can’t wait to see what my business card looks like after ITP.
The right side of my card looks dull, and does not fit right with the other side of the card. Perhaps I can take out the words, as nowadays people are only putting their websites, or their names and their websites as opposed to including their phone number and email as well. I will really need to think about and work on this side of the card, but I am excited to do so!
