Diverse Women in Media Forum

The Emerging Content Creators Inclusion Initiative is an initiative geared towards emerging artists from underrepresented communities who lack the resources and relationships to kickstart their careers in the entertainment industry. Through the ECCII, NALIP offers scholarships and mentorship opportunities during its major programs and events.

Scholarships to attend the 2020 Diverse Women in Media Forum: Scholarship recipients will be able to attend the entire two-day event, completely free of charge. We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis until November 12th. This scholarship is for womxn and womxn-identifying people only, but there will be future opportunities for others to apply.

Voter Engagement PSA Contest

Tisch School of the Arts is calling on you, its students, to produce 30-to-90-second voter engagement-focused public service announcements (PSAs). Your PSA can take the form of a filmed segment, animation, recorded monologue, photo, game or jingle! The aim of these non-partisan PSAs is to start conversations around the importance of youth voter turnout on a peer-to-peer level.

PSAs will be reviewed by a panel of Tisch students, faculty, and staff. Winning projects will be awarded $200 and featured on Tisch’s website and social media.

AIFF is committed to providing filmmakers with the best festival experience possible. Our 20th festival will be virtual on our Eventive.org channel, supplemented by special outdoor and indoor events in Ashland. This year, every feature film selection will be paid an exhibition fee, and all short and feature films will be up for the cash prizes we give to our jury awardees. Short films screen in carefully programmed groupings throughout the festival while features run for exclusive 48 hour periods, receiving the full attention of our publicity team.

Oceanic Global Short Film Festival

Ocean Short Film Fest

Inspired by issues arising during the current pandemic – ranging from financial uncertainty for freelancers in the creative industries, the demand for educational & environmental online content, as well as the dangerous increase in plastic driven by COVID-19 – non-profit ​Oceanic Global​’s London we created the organization’s first-ever short film festival to spotlight emerging filmmakers with an interest in sustainability.

Accepting entries between 3-15 minutes in length, visual artists are invited to enter the ​Oceanic Global Short Film Festival​ ​until ​September 13, 2020​ for the chance to be featured in public screenings and have their work judged by a panel of acclaimed film festival partners representing MATTE Projects​, ​EarthX​, ​Convicts NYC​, ​The Klosters Forum​ ​and​ ​Ocean Culture Life​.

Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant

Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Film Grant

The Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant is an annual grant that will be awarded to self-identified lesbians for making visionary moving-image art. Work can be experimental animation, experimental documentary, experimental narrative, cross-genre, or solely experimental. Applicants must be based in the U.S. This grant was established by Hammer in 2017 to give needed support to moving-image art made by lesbians.

The grant is supported directly by funds provided by Hammer’s estate and administered through Queer|Art by lesbians for lesbians, with a rotating panel of judges. This year Queer|Art is pleased to announce the grant has increased to $7,000.

Rising Storytelling Search

In an effort to spark emerging voices from underrepresented creative communities across the country, Gemstone Studios’ pilot program is calling out for creators to share their stories at a time we need them most. Launched August 12, RISING STORYTELLER SEARCH is a three-month campaign designed to source and elevate diverse creators with authentic, bold, and undeniable voices. Submissions will be self-taped and submitted via RisingStorytellersSearch.com. The winner will be offered a development deal with GEMSTONE STUDIOS, a Sony Pictures Company, worth $30k and the chance to work with industry creatives dedicated to developing their story!

The Creative Coalition

As part of the its Spotlight Initiative, The Creative Coalition is accepting proposals to produce a short film with a running time of not more than 40 minutes with a maximum budget of $50,000 addressing the theme of “The Untold Story of Obesity in America.” A panel created by The Creative Coalition will choose up to three filmmakers to be given this opportunity.
