My idea of which story should I choose actually changes a lot. At the very first beginning, I want to use the story “The Adventure of Tintin”, which I mentioned in my last blog post. However, I read that series of books at a really young age. So there are a lot of stories and plots I cannot remember. That’s also a reason why I wrote so few words in my last blog post because I really have no idea how should I continue my project with that story.
So, this time, I decided to change a story to adapt. I wanted to use the story of one of my favorite movies, War Horse. However, the original story has such a happy ending that I think none of us want to get a bad ending instead. Also, I feel it difficult to revise the story because the war horse’s life is extraordinary and that he is the main character. However, his ending is actually the work of everyone else’s good choice. Therefore, I find it hard to select one character for readers to unfold my new story.
At last, I chose the story of the movie “Zootopia”. I picked Judy, the bunny who always wants to be a police, as the heroine of my interactive story. I only selected the part of the story that she is dreaming to be the police, encounters a lot of difficulties and finally realizes her dream. I revise that her dream is actually calling for and protecting the peace between the weak prey and fierce predators. I create a lot of choices for readers to make. Whether you want to listen to your parents’ dissuasion? Whether you feel fear while beaten by strong predators? Whether you want to quit when you realize that the training tasks are too hard for you to complete? However, no matter what kind of choice readers make, Judy can always get a good way to realize her dream to call for or protect the peace between the prey and the predators, regardless of her final profession.
There are 12 divergent endings in all for the readers to have. Some different choices may also cause the same ending, which I have used blue pens to show the turning-back.
And the main idea of me to create such a story is to tell the readers that sometimes pursuing dreams is not only about persistence, but you should also first realize what your dream exactly is, what you want to achieve with your life, the central meaning of pursuing your dream. Then, you may be able to find out that there are a lot of ways that can help you realize the meaning of your life. And you should choose one that is most suitable for you. Here, in this story, Judy is always pursuing her dream which is to help protect the peace between two parties, no matter what she is, police, a writer or a famous star. Although there has to be some idealization in this story, I do want the readers to imagine they themselves are Judy and experience the whole story based on their own choices.
