Step 1
For your blog post, post about one of the projects that you critiqued. Please summarize what the project is and what your feedback was for improving the project. What did you think was interesting about this project’s concept? How do you think the project is creating –or could create– a meaningful experience that fosters the exploration of how we interact with technology?
In this recitation, among the different projects that I have tested, I found that all of them had done a great job in both innovating new ways of interaction and executing their initial purpose. Among all the projects, I found one really eye-catching, which is titled “A-maze-ing” which intrigued me a lot. The name is pretty innovative since it combines both the expectation that the designer has for the project, “amazing”, and the key elements of the project, a “maze”, together. For this project, although the execution had not been fully developed and realized, I feel like the potential of this project is pretty high. He wanted to create a true maze where users could play with several buttons to trigger and turn the direction of the maze and find the ball a way to get out of the maze. This reminded me of some small games or mazes that are embedded in the ruler which I liked to buy when I was a child. This interaction with sensors may not be that interactive and innovative, however, since the users need to find their own way to get the ball out, in my opinion, overall, it is a great project.
Step 2
From your notes, write down any feedback that you received during the user testing of your project. According to the people who participated in your user test, what was the most and least successful part of your project—Do you agree or disagree with this? How did this feedback influence your project? In the event that you did not make any changes, please explain why you didn’t incorporate the feedback?
Also, I have received some detailed and constructive feedback from others. For example, one of the users told us that she did not know what to do when she first came in front of our project. Actually, before the user-testing, we have been paying too much attention to the coding part and the setting parts to figure out how to realize the interaction that we wanted, since neither of us has enough coding experience or know anything about how to detect the color on the video that is captured lively. Therefore, we did not even notice that we should create a reasonable experience and have some instructions for the users and to inform them or at least give them some hints about how to interact with the project. Therefore, based on that feedback, we decided to make a sound clip serving as an instruction for the users.
