Sproul's School

History.  Truth.  Faith.  That’s the tagline for R.C. Sproul’s new Ligonier Academy of Biblical and Theological Studies.  Sproul, a Calvinist who has promoted Biblical inerrancy, established Ligonier Ministries in the hills outside Pittsburgh, PA, in 1971 but has since moved most of operations, including his daily radio show, “Renewing Your Mind with Dr. R.C. Sproul,” to Florida where the new academy will open.  In a press release (h/t Religion News Service) Sproul writes, “I am convinced that if you ground students in biblical truth at the college level, it will capture their thinking for the rest of their lives and enrich the church, and enrich the culture in which we live.”

Sproul and his son were prominently in the news in 2006 when RC Sproul, Jr, a minister who makes his father look like a liberal, was defrocked of office at Saint Peter Presbyterian Church by the Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC), for, among other things, illegal use of a tax identification number and “unauthorized” planting of a church.

Sproul and Sproul, Jr as well as R. Fowler White are listed as teachers at the new academy.
