What Would Jesus Do About Unitarian Heresy?

01 March 2006

England’s Chester Cathedral has made waves with its recent refusal to let a Unitarian congregation hold a service in the Cathedral — as the Unitarian Church has for the past three years — declaring Unitarianism a “heretical” religion incompatible with the Church of England-run Cathedral. The denunciation came after the evangelical Bishop of Chester, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Forster, heard one complaint about the unorthodox divergence of Unitarian beliefs from those of the C of E, including the Unitarians’ rejection of the trinity and the divinity of Jesus Christ. The Unitarians do however share other Christian conventions, as is evidenced by their invocation of the official Christian chastisement — What would Jesus do? — when complaining about the intolerance displayed by the Anglican Church.
