New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin joins the swollen ranks of bumbling politicians and clerics made to apologize to the public after declaring that some instance of God’s wrath is punishment for a wayward citizenry. During a Martin Luther King Day speech, Nagin traced the devastation of the Katrina hurricane back to God’s anger at missing WMDs in Iraq and black Americans’ failure to “take care of [themselves].”
