“‘After reading the e-mail, it became pretty obvious he was putting money before God. We are righteously casting him out.'” Hard times are here for Ralph Reed, candidate for lieutenant governor of Georgia, as the Georgia Christian Coalition — a branch of Reed’s own, former empire — denounces him for his dealings with Jack Abramoff, the disgraced super-lobbyist for whom Reed had mobilized thousands of Christian voters in defense of Abramoff’s financial interests in casino deals. From a Washington Post report by Thomas B. Edsall, drawing on the almost 50 articles run on the Reed-Abramoff connection in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, comes this man-on-the-street epitaph: “‘Ralph Reed of the Christian Coalition? My God! Abramoff.'”
My God! Abramoff.
