Eagles for Christ

A Delaware state principal has apologized after allowing a Christian-themed assembly, featuring two pro-football players from the Philadelphia Eagles — one of whom is the founder of the evangelical group, Athletes United for Christ — to occur at a public high school in Newark. Event promoters later said they had made it clear what the athletes would be talking about to the students, but the principal maintained that he had been misled by the organizers — something, the ACLU has commented, that is starting to become a nationwide trend, with “‘Organizations like this one…gaining access to schools through the famous people and entertainment value and then using those opportunities to proselytize.'”
