“GOP leaders in both houses describe [the Terry Schiavo] case as having to do with the ‘culture of life’ theme expected to be central in the 2006 congressional races.” — Gail Russell Chaddock in The Christian Science Monitor. What’s interesting about the Schiavo case is the attempt by some anti-euthanasia activists to turn the life or death of an individual into a left/right political battle. Actually, that’s not interesting, that’s asinine. They think they’re the new abolitionists; we think they’re P.T. Barnum, only not entertaining. NOTE: We have said nothing about what we ourselves believe should be done for Terry Schiavo.
