“‘We live in a post-Christian society and we do not have the power any more.
The [Christian] Church is returning to the place it was in its first 300 years, when it was vulnerable and on the edge of society.'” Steve Chalke warns church leaders in the embattled Irish province of Ulster that the power of the church had greatly diminished in the modern world and that they must now shift their role to improving community relations and begin serving all people regardless of religion, sexual orietation or race. Chalke also criticized Ulster’s mantra “No Surrender,” as the antithesis of the gospel, “‘which is about giving ground, not taking it away.'”
