About
The Discard Studies Collaborative was founded in 2016 by Rosalind Fredericks (Associate Professor, Gallatin, NYU) and Robin Nagle (Clinical Professor, Liberal Studies, NYU) with a Working Group grant from NYU Center for the Humanities. The Collaborative aims to build an interdisciplinary community of scholars, researchers, and practitioners with an interest in discard studies as part of a wider effort to define and forge this exciting new interdisciplinary field. Participants in the Collaborative hail from a variety of disciplines in the humanities, social science, and design fields, including, Comparative Literature, History, Anthropology, Geography, STS, Urban Planning, and Architecture. To date, the Collaborative has organized a series of events, including regular Works in Progress luncheons, Talking about Teaching discussions, book talks, field trips, and the major upcoming Discard Studies Conference to be held at The Gallatin School, NYU from September 15-17, 2022.
