First meeting of the semester! We just went over introductions and went over some of the projects available for the semester. I am also taking Access and Assistive Technology in Historic Sites and Museums with Amy this semester so I think this will give me an opportunity to work on two things that really interested me last semester; tactile design and Makers Making Change. For the VIP this semester I hope to get involved with Makers Making Change.

I took a workshop adapting a children’s toy with Makers Making Change over the weekend. I really enjoyed the hands on workshop and loved making a toy that could be used by more people. It was my second time soldering which is always a bit scary but I did better than I expected, I hope to take more workshops with Makers Making Change in the future and maybe even try to get involved with the organization next semester.

This week I went to Stefanie Koseff’s is Digital Embroidery New Year’s Card Workshop. I was able to learn more about tactile design in art as well as help her test run her workshop and even went home with a cool card!
