Student Coursework
I experimented using the new embroidery machine. It yielded better results but had a bit of a learning curve since it had the addition of the touch screen. I played around with making a bigger design and using layering. I chose one of my grandmother’s needlepoint pieces.
I finished making tactile interpretations of Intrepids patches I worked on last semester and will look to send those off to them so they can start using them.
I attended the multisensory event this week and made a stress ball. I enjoyed the process of making it but also thought using playdough was a really good idea for material that I had never seen before for homemade stress balls.
This week I attended an event from the NYU Human-Computer Interaction initiative’s seminar series on Wednesday (10/30) with guest speaker Sang Ho Yoon. He talked about his work with HCI technologies, specifically with advanced sensing techniques and haptics. I am not familiar with haptic technology, but I was fascinated by the haptic interaction framework he presented that is designed to promote the integration of haptic feedback into AR/VR environments.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have much time to allocate towards the VIP this week because of midterm exams :/
