When I put my technology of chosen and discrimination together into search, some feedbacks are positive while some are not. Camera can be used as a powerful tool to against discrimination, while if used incorrectly it can be a perpetrator of biases.
To my surprise. there one news about discrimination cause by high-end camera gears, which is totally stupid. Many photography fanatics, who takes nice photos with luxury gears are sometimes considered “commercial shooters” when enter certain places, which would yield to a permit fee cost a decent amount of money. However, usually they are just shooting their families. It’s my first time to see people asking for “justice” for the photographers, since I encountered such circumstances as well. People shouldn’t think camera as a commercial tool but a necessity for someone. There are someone shooting photos with their phones and ask for money… Which is ridiculous.
Camera can record a certain moments, can be good or bad, but whatever pictures the shooter take, the thing that’s perpetrating the biases will always be the social media. One thing I would remember were the biases from the journalism. Last year many Hong Kong people protested with their violent actions without caring anything ( they even beat the vulnerable people who tried to stop them). I was very sad that many press are kind of having anti-China sentiment, and they always depicted the protesters as the vulnerable. Press should give people a correct insight of the world, but not do something catching eyes to get them fame…
