In what city or town did you grow up in?
Dallas, TX

Where are you currently living?
New York, NY

What was your major?
Finance & Marketing, minor in Psychology

Why did you choose to study away at NYU Sydney?
I knew I would have many opportunities to travel to Europe, so I wanted to go as far away as possible – when else would I get the chance to live in Australia?

How would you describe your experience at NYU Sydney?
I absolutely fell in love with Sydney and Australia in general. It was a semester full of learning about myself and getting out of my comfort zone. It was really great to experience a culture that is so close yet so different from the American one as well, when you notice that the small nuances are really what defines specific cultures.

What was your favorite class and why?
I loved Child and Adolescent Psychopathology (part of Child and Adolescent Mental Studies) – the course was taught by a practicing Psychologist, and there were only 2 people in the class (the semester I went was very small). It was a discussion-driven class since it was so small and we got to observe one of the professor’s actual patient sessions, which was an incredible learning experience that you don’t get as an unlicensed student.

What was your favorite trip, excursion (Student Life or class related)?
Hiking the Blue Mountains was very impactful for me – seeing how majestic the country’s landscape was. Stargazing from another hemisphere where we got to see the Milky Way will always be one of my top nature moments in life.

Where are you currently working/studying?
I’m currently a digital strategy consultant at IBM.

When thinking about your experience at NYU Sydney what stands out to you most?
The connections and bonds I made in Sydney were truly incredible – the friends as well as staff that I still keep in touch with have been and will be lifelong friends!

How has your experience at NYU Sydney impacted life after college?
It was my 1st abroad experience at NYU and because it was so successful, it sparked an international mindset for how I wanted to continue my education. After my NYU Sydney semester I studied abroad again and also did 2 short-term courses that included international excursions.
