The Top 50 Green Colleges ranks schools that have strong sustainability practices, academic opportunities, and a healthy quality of life for students. 

Our commitment to sustainability is deeply valued by members of the NYU community. Our administrators are committed to incorporating sustainability policies and practices into their office operations; Faculty are leading sustainability research and instructing related courses; and students are engaged in peer-to-peer efforts through student government and clubs. Prospective NYU students are also concerned with our sustainability efforts. According to the Princeton Review’s College Hopes & Worries Survey, sixty-six percent of college-bound individuals and their families said that knowing a college’s commitment to the environment would affect their decision to apply to or attend a school.

As we gear up for the 2020 election, a sense of urgency has emerged. Everyone from your favorite TV show actor to major corporations, even sports teams are making a plea for all eligible voters to see voting for what it really is: a privilege while also arguably the most non-violent form of protest.

Environmental Justice and Activism at this year’s Climate Week NYC

Climate Week NYC (September 21-27) is a major, annual summit to spread the message of climate action locally and across the globe. Hosted by the United Nations and the City of New York, it is a way for people to get involved in a fast growing movement towards building a better future. This year, they’re hosting dozens of events , mostly online, to showcase, and teach, the global leadership of young people and grassroots activism. Green Grant Update: The V,OID

The V,OID (Volunteers, Organized in Disorder) is a group of volunteers working to emphasize community-based responses to the climate crisis and to democratize environmental education. The V,OID is creating educational materials including a website, a podcast, accessible recommended literature, a zine series, a calendar of relevant events, and a forum for online communication. We believe that sustainable living is a natural product of tight knit, educated, and empowered communities. We are building an example of this from the ground up. We believe this model of a climate group is different and necessary in that it is an example of ecological thriving in the Anthropocene.  Read more
