Meet the Newest Additions to Our Team!

Tess von Kleist, Sustainability Assistant 

My name is Tess von Kleist, and I am a junior in CAS studying Environmental Studies and Urban Design and Architecture. My passion for sustainability and the environment grew out of seeing how the beautiful areas that I hiked with my mom were transformed by wildfires and development, and the skylines were clouded with smog. This is why my major is focused on greening the urban environment and building green infrastructure in our community. Outside of school I enjoy thrifting, hiking, and taking the Q down to the beach with my roommates. Read more

GREEN GRANT UPDATE: SUSTAINABLE MENSTRUATION INITIATIVE

Lubnah Ansari is a third-year undergraduate student at New York University Abu Dhabi. She is pursuing her B.A. in Social Research and Public Policy, along with a minor in The Environment. In 2017, she initiated the first Sustainable Menstruation Workshop on campus under the Ecoherence student interest group. In 2018, Lubnah was awarded the Innovative Leadership Award by the Campus Life Leadership Awards for her efforts towards the project. The Office of Sustainability is proud to be participating in Welcome Week 2019! If youʻre a new student or transfer student, Welcome to NYU! If youʻre interested in getting involved with sustainability on campus, youʻll have lots of opportunities to chat with us in the coming weeks. You can stop by our table on Welcome Day (weʻll have goodies), or join us on a green campus tour and meet some like-minded friends. On the 29th weʻll be partnering with the Department of Health to help you refill & chill (*hint hint* more goodies), and weʻll be closing it out with our Eco-Fair on September 3rd open to all NYU students. GREEN GRANT UPDATE: SOLAR POWERED MEDIA

Tega Brain is an Assistant Professor, artist, environmental engineer, and has experience building computational projects that address energy use and sustainability. This project builds on her ongoing research by leveraging technology to improve environmental health. Benedetta Piantella is an Industry Assistant Professor with ten years of experience in the design and deployment of open source hardware/software solutions that address social challenges in low resource settings globally and developing curricula that uses design to solve large real-world problems. This project builds on her current research around wireless local networks, information sharing, and community resilience. Alex Nathanson is an NYU Tandon alumni, multimedia artist, A/V engineer, technologist, and educator. As an educator he has worked with students from K to graduate level and beyond, teaching skills related to electronics and solar technologies for creative expression. His thesis project for the IDM Program included an extremely in-depth study on the use of solar in media arts.
