Writer Spotlight: Tiffany Wong

Our second writer spotlight features Tiffany Wong – our Fall 2019 Contributing Writer! Tiffany is an APUG senior on the Occupational Therapy track with a minor in Nutrition.

We asked Tiffany to reflect on her experience to provide you with an inside look into OPUS. Read our Q&A below!

What compelled you to submit to OPUS?

“I wanted to get in depth experience with writing pieces related to research! It may be one thing to conduct research, but to explain it to people in a clear way is a different story.”

What was the editing experience like?

“It was tedious, but also allows you to self-reflect and be intentional with every sentence that you put on paper.”

What was your paper about?

“My piece is about looking into how caring for a child with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) can be hindered by various forms of stigma and how negative perceptions can affect parenting!”

What did you gain from this experience?

“I learned how to how effectively communicate my thoughts into structured sentences and make sure that my ideas go well together in a logical manner.”

What tips do you have for future writers?

‘Perfect is the enemy of done’. You will find that it is a lot more productive to not nitpick so much during the main writing process!”

Would you recommend this experience to others and why?

“Yes! Challenge yourself and take on opportunities that can only help you grow :)”
