Math in Everyday Activities of Latino Families (MEAL)

As part of the DREME network at Stanford University, MEAL aims to identify existing family routines, practices, and strategies in Spanish-speaking and/or Spanish-English bilingual homes that support children’s mathematical thinking. The project examines how Latino families organize and participate in math-related activities with their preschool-aged children. Furthermore, MEAL investigates how parental beliefs about children’s early learning and development relate to their participation in math-related activities. This work will inform how various stakeholders including researchers, educators, and policymakers can honor Latino families and bring their voices into mathematical initiatives in school and communities.
