Spring 2017

This semester, I am drastically changing the direction of my studies. I am taking History of Western Art 1, Shaping the Urban Environment, Aesthetics in Context, Drawing 1, and private voice lessons. The first four courses are intended to help me explore my interest in architecture, urbanism, and design. I see my voice lessons as supplemental and to help me with Shabband, which is a club I’m the coordinator of this semester. History of Western Art is a prerequisite for the architecture classes in the art history department that I hope to take in the future. Shaping the Urban Environment is in the Urban Design department, which I think will be a foundational element of my concentration. My equestrian team captain recommended this class specifically to explore my interest in urbanism. Aesthetics in context is my Gallatin research seminar and it is focusing on art rather than architecture but the foundational philosophical elements of the class can be applied to design for sure. Drawing 1 is focused on self portraits rather than architectural or technical drawings but it should still help me familiarize myself with various drawing mediums and more easily transfer my ideas onto paper. In addition to my courses, I am trying to get a job and plan for future internships and academic semesters. Soon I should be able to update with how my classes and job search are going and such.
