The Center for Applied Liberals Arts is delighted to welcome Daniel Bienert, aka Daniel Isengart, this semester.
Starting on Friday, March 12 (Liza Minnellis’ birthday!) at 2 PM, Bienert’s course, Life is a Cabaret, begins.
The course will dip into the multi-faceted research Bienert has compiled over 20 years as an entertainer who specializes in vintage cabaret material, and will take you through the rich history of this gloriously ephemeral art form. For your enjoyment, watch your new instructor perform below:
Since his cabaret debut in New York in 1997, Bienert has become a spokesperson for, and specialist in French and Weimar-era cabaret culture. He has performed in countless venues including Joe’s Pub and Café Sabarsky and has been featured at special events at MoMA, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, SF MoMA, and The Cleveland Museum of Modern Art.
