Happy World Book Day! Coincidentally for writing lovers, today is also National Grammar Day. (Check out this catchy video if you’ve ever been labeled ‘grammar police’ — you’ll enjoy it!)
In honor of this year’s Book Day, we recommend joining us on March 16 for a virtual book club reading of Exit West by Mohsin Hamid. The novel by the Pakistani author explores themes of community, citizenship, and the meaning of home in transitional contexts. If emigration is a topic of interest to you, register here for the discussion. The event is free and will take place on Tuesday, March 16 at 12:30pm ET.
We also have another virtual book club in line — a reading of The Gift of Diamonds, the first installment of a Transylvanian trilogy series written by CALA instructor Roberta Seret. This book delves into much more than its title may imply: it concludes on the connection between fascism, communism, and modern-day terrorism. The Zoom event is free and will take place on Tuesday, April 20 at 11:00am ET. Register here.
